Successful Adoptions

We do not believe there is a shortage of Weimaraners!

Below is a sample of some of the more than 200 Weimaraners the Tarheel Weimaraner Club has helped to place over the last nine years.

  • Basie came into the TWC rescue program as a stray from a local shelter. He found a home with a couple who's older Weimaraner had recently died. [more . . .]

  • Sophie entered the Tarheel Weimaraner Club Rescue Program at the age of 18 months. She had already had two litters of puppies by this time. After a short period of foster care, she was placed in a new home and given her own webpage.

  • Buster, a 6 month old male Weimaraner bought in a pet store. His owners were used to Shar Peis, and simply thought he would be laid-back like the Wegman dogs. They did not have a fenced yard and so he was kept in a garage (which he was chewing up). Buster was housebroken, crate trained and up-to-date on shots and heartworm prevention before being placed in his new home. He liked to retrieve.

  • Regan, a 3 year old male. His owner was a college student that was in a band and having to be away from home a lot. Regan was housebroken and crate trained, current on shots and heartworm medication. He swims and retrieves and was a trained hunting dog.

  • Susie, a 2.5 year old spayed female. Susie was too active for her family's young children (she meant no harm, but she knocked them down when they came outside, due to her exuberance at a visit). She had been a yard dog and wasn't housebroken, but did know some obedience. She was very good with other dogs and older children, but she would dig out if left in the yard.

  • Ira, a 3 year old neutered male. His elderly owner fell and broke several ribs and could no longer keep him. He was obedience and crate trained. He had earned his Junior Hunter and was a good agility dog. He was current on shots and heartworm prevention.

  • Holly, a 8 year old spayed female. Her owner was having to make many extended trips out of town due to a family member's illness. Holly was crate trained and housebroken. She knew basic obedience commands and loved to retrieve. She was up to date on shots and heartworm prevention.
