Successful Adoptions

Dear TWC rescue,

We adopted Basie (he came into the rescue program known only as "Stray" from a kill shelter in Cleveland County, NC, by way of the Humane Society in Shelby) in late August 2003 after our 9 year old Weimaraner, Sara, died.

Basie is a great family dog! He is very mellow (how unusual for a Weim!) and has settled very nicely into our home life. He is very much the velcro variety, craving contact and love. We cannot express how very happy we are that he was located and removed from the kill shelter (as you may recall, his owner had told the kill shelter that he was beginning to exhibit aggressive tendencies - but in reality, he had apparently just barked at the meter reader). He is completely loving and devoted to us and our young children, and has happily taken his place at the bottom of the pecking order (just below Max, our Weim/Lab mixed breed).

We really thank you for giving us the opportunity to have Basie become part of our family. We especially appreciate what Weim rescue (and the Humane Society of Shelby, in this case!) does for animals in need of families!

We have attached a recent picture of Basie so that you can see him. Thanks again.
